  The Arts Of Region 1 1. Architecture Region 1 is comprised of the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. This region is characterized by  Spanish  architecture and popular beaches. Ilocos Norte has many old churches like the St. William's Cathedral in Laoag. Paoay Church The Saint Augustine Church, commonly known as the Paoay Church, is a Roman Catholic church in the Municipality of Paoay, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Completed in 1710, the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. It is declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines in 1993. Different Art Forms Found In The Philippines 1. Paintings Arts in the Philippines refer to all the various forms of the arts that have developed and accumulated in the Philippines from the beginning of civilization in the country up to the present era. They reflect the range of artistic influences on the country's culture, including indigenous forms of the arts, and how these influences have honed the country's arts. These arts are divided into two distinct branches, namely, traditional arts and non-traditional arts. Each branch is further divided into various categories with subcategories.  Painting is a way for artists to do so many things: express emotions, convey ideas, and sometimes, make a change in society. And these works of art reflect a nation’s culture. Just like what the talented Filipino famous painters do with their masterpieces.
